This little book is absolutely wonderful for many different reasons. For starters, it is small, bound in a nice hard cover with a spiral spine, making it easy to use in the field and easy to fit into your Artbin paint case.Every beginner struggles with painting skies, and this book is a very nice, focused treatment of the subject. Patricia Seligman lays out many colorful examples in a wide range of media, all organized systematically (Clear Sky, Light Cloud, Dense Cloud, Layered Cloud, and each of these with examples at Early Morning, Midday and Evening). Seeing how many different ways artists have approached this one subject is both inspirational and educational. There is a nice section on how to mix blues and grays, with lots of color swatch examples of color progression. For such a small book, there are also lots of general painting techniques, tips and composition theory are included.I paint in the field, and of all the books on painting I've acquired, this is the one that goes with me. Very Highly Recommended.
A perfect pocket guide
