Genius kid makes a match for mom . . .

Since plenty of plot summary's been done, I'll just add a couple of comments: Cassidy's a very likeable heroine, but she struck me as just a bit too naive and trusting when it came to her son's goodhearted plotting. On the plus side, Ty, the hero, has some of the best lines ever spoken by a romance hero after a power outage. That one scene's nearly enough to make you cry.

4 + 3 QUARTERS STARS - WHAT A HOOT!

Humor - love - tension- a bit of a mystery! What was Cassidy after besides a home and roots for herself and her son, Hutch. Hutch was a self-proclaimed brainiac. But he didn't freak out Ty Merrick. You just have to love Cassidy's self-image. Three inches difference? Ty was intrigued by Cassidy and skeptical of his grandmother's reasoning and he definitely didn't trust the computers. The episodes when Hutch tried so hard to complete his experiments in love with his mother and Ty were hilarious. But tender love is woven throughout the story of a boy needing a father and his mother needing a husband. Hutch's version. This is the third in the "Yellow Rose Matchmakers" and the set is definitely worth reading -- and may be a logical keeper for wonderful reading. Definitely Recommended --M

Delightful read

Hutch Lonigan had the perfect idea for his mother's birthday. As a "very" smart kid -- who's already in the 7th grade in the age of 10 -- Hutch always loved a good challenge. And finding his mom a husband -- while also got a good grade for his upcoming science project -- will be the greatest challenge of all!! So, with determined will, this kid walked into Yellow Rose Matchmaker agency, gave his nine dollars -- and change -- , and demanded the best man he could get. Ty Merrick, 31, the silent partner of the agency was given the "job" by his Grandma to help Hutch out with the list. He didn't want to but he couldn't say no. So he helped Hutch fills out the questionnare for his Mom. But when the computer said the person who was suited for Hutch's Mom, Cassidy, Ty got the surprise -- and challenge -- of his ownThe idea of a 10-year-old kid wanting a Dad for nine dollars was so cute for me. And I always love Day Leclaire's writing. She managed to create such a light-hearted and sweet story. The scenes Hutch created to make his Mom and Ty fell in love were smart, annoying, and adorable at the same time. I loved the way Ty handled Hutch since the kid was a little bit insecured, being very smart and all. And one of the best scenes in this book was of course when Ty had to convince his love to Cassidy. How did he do it? Hint: One of Demi Moore's movie title.

A Must-Read!

I just loved this author. She writes the funniest books and somehow also manages to make them so touching. This book is no exception. The little boy in this book was wonderful. The way he tried to get his mother and Ty together was an absolute hoot, it left me laughing out loud. But then there was the secret that's revealed at the end and it actually had me tearing up...right until the very end when Ty decided to prove how much he loves Cassidy. I howled. If you've never tried one of Day Leclaire's books, get this one...and then order a bunch more. She's fantastic!
