This book completes the "Space Train" series. The story depicts difficult romantic relationships, taming wild animals, love, deceit, violence and death. As a teenager Lottie began wooing and conniving to marry Jack. Lottie and her parents were devastated learning that Jack had other plans. While hunting for food, the Clan had seen horses but never considered using them. While visiting the train, one of the Clan boys viewed a cowboy movie. He returned home and excitingly convinced his friends to capture tame and train several wild horses. The process turned out to be an adventuresome and productive challenge for both those in the Valley and the Clan.In book five, Kyle, Justin and Cindy's son, meets Mebe, a girl from one of the Giant Tribes. Although only fourteen at the time, they fall in love and promise to mate when they were older. The Giant tribes lived across a formable glacier. It took four years to convince his father and the Monk the Giant to make the arduous and dangerous trip across the glacier to visit Mebe. Unknown to Kyle, Sleezar, the son of the Mountain Tribe Chief, had vowed to Mate with Mebe. Although he did not love her, he was determined not to let a Star Boy, mate with a tribal girl. He spent more than two years courting Mebe and convincing The Great Hopsi-Akuu, Mebe's adopted guardian, that he was genuine in his love for Mebe. When Kyle arrives, Sleezar states he will kill him and take Mebe to be his mate with or without her consent. Sleezar was a giant and dwarfed Kyle. If Kyle was to have Mebe, he would have to fight. And even if Kyle won the fight, Sleezar stated he would follow and eventually kill Mebe. Another and even larger question was if Kyle and Mebe did mate, whether either the Star People or the Giant Tribes would accept an inter-racial marriage. No such marriage had ever taken place and the Giant Tribes reaction would be unknown. The story ends with an extraordinary discovery.
