Great for starts and taking the next step

This book gives you several options, mindsets and thoughts to keep in mind before you start running or that "next step" in intensity. Everything from diet to shoes. I would highly suggest anyone to read this book.

Run to the best of your ability...this book will help you!

If you are wanting to lose weight and have tried everything on the market you may have missed out on a big secret: Running Burns Fat Fast! I got this book and followed the 10K training guidelines and have lost weight rapidly and feel better than I have in years. I started out huffing and puffing and could barely run for a straight minute but I stuck with it and you can too! This book will encourage you to make it to the finish line; whether that finish line is the New York City Marathon or your neighborhood post office, this book will help you get there!

NYRRC Complete Book of Running and Fitness

This is the greatest resource for runners that I have ever encountered. It provides information on everything from nutrition to training schedules, injury prevention to local running clubs, stretching suggestions to cross-training hints... you get the idea! It addresses the needs of beginning runners to experienced marathoners, and everyone in between. Highly recommended!

Useful and informative

I still refer to this book from time to time; haven't looked at the 3rd edition of this book (newly out).I have no regrets buying this book, but I prefer a book I recently discovered: Bob Glover's The Runner's Handbook.I got a kick out of reading the late Fred Lebow's story and how the NYC Marathon started, but find the book more suited to people who actually live in NYC and can be part of the NYRRC in that this book provides too many place-specific references.

A trusted companion to runners at every level.

I have read this book "cover to cover" and continue to refer to it on a daily basis for information on topics ranging from proper nutrition to "day of race" preparation. From your first day on the road to peak performance in your first Marathon, anyone who uses this book as a reference will find it to be as trusted a companion as I have. This book's only limitation is that "paperbacks eventually wear out!"
