As a once-in-a lifetime downturn continues, trusted finance reporter Chris Farrell explains that there is a silver lining to this cloud. It is accelerating a trend already underway in America toward... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Chris Farrell gives you two good financial books for the price of one. First, he puts the current recession in historical perspective. Next he shows you how to adjust your financial thinking to survive and hopefully thrive in these "interesting times". Since none of us have the exact same set of financial circumstances, it is not a "hear is exactly how to do it " book. This is the one that puts your head in the game. Interesting some of the negative reviews. As far as new ideas,I find value in putting all the tried & true in order in one place. I wouldn't be attracted to a book that pioneered the idea you should put all your remaining money in Lithuanian pork belly futures...or gave me a "new take" on how to buy real estate using death threats. ;-) All in all, Chris' book at least serves as the conversation with a smart uncle who reassures us that all this too will pass.

Just what I needed

I enjoy hearing Chris Farrell on the radio, but can't say I'm well versed in financial matters. This book was just what I needed. It combined straightforward solid advice with an enjoyable style and the liberating message that becoming more frugal will save my own hide and, by helping me and others become more Green, help the Earth too. I came away from this book feeling not only that I can do this, but that I want to do this. Let's hope this book is the start of something important for all of us.
