In book 31 of the series, Kathryn Kenny introduces environmental concerns as Sleepyside is divided over whether or not to allow International Pine, a furniture company, to open a local factory. Trixie and her friends become personally involved when Dan and Jim find themselves on opposing sides. Meanwhile, Trixie and Honey begin doing some investigating of their own (as always!) and find themselves wondering whether the company--or perhaps an environmentalist opposing it--are guilty of breaking the law. Although not one of my favorites in the series--the author is doing straight mystery writing here, with less of the light-hearted give & take that characterizes earlier Trixie books--Mystery at Maypenny's nonetheless provides yet another enjoyable story about Trixie and her friends.
