Utterly Satisfying

This is an intense, intelligent, richly psychological and philosophical work that raises all kinds of complex questions about the nature of existence and the act of creation. But it's not weighed down by these concepts: as a reading experience it is absolutely compulsive, I didn't want it to end, but I wanted it to keep going forever. I am looking forward to a slow and thoughtful reread. Highly recommended for children, teenagers and adults who love intense and intelligent children's fiction like The Mouse and His Child, The Silver Crown, Peter Pan, Grimm's Fairy Tales, the Narnia books, the Alice books, Skellig, Margo Lanagan's short stories eg Black Juice, Tom's Midnight Garden, Ursula Duborsarsky's fiction etc
