This book is a sequel to SEARCHING FOR FREEDOM IN AMERICA. The author contemplated leaving the first book to stand alone, but wanted to know for himself what happened to these people, who had become like friends. The first three chapters of this book reference events in SEARCHING.... There are certainly other references to the first book here and there throughout this book. Though it is not necessary to read both, they go better together. The detailed introductions of the characters in SEARCHING are important, and the reader will enjoy their experiences as well. This book continues the struggles of the people in the first book to survive, remain free, and attempt to build normal lives while facing the threat of an oppressive socialist government.SEARCHING told the story of attempts to escape the socialist Northeast of America in the years approaching the mid Twenty-first Century. This volume completes the story by describing the lives of those who made it out.
