No greater love

Wow, the message of this book leaves a lasting impression. This little character grabbed my heart!

The second half made the book...

This book took me awhile to get into, I actually started it once then left it for another book. I just picked it up again and read from the beginning. If you can get through the first half, the book is great. It takes awhile to develop the story, but once you realize where it's going, you can't put this book down. I definately recommend this book to anyone who's interested in science and the reality of bio-terrorism. This is not a "light" or "easy" read, it brings up a lot of issues and really makes you think about things. My overall opinion is that this is a great read once you pass the first 1/3 or so of the book.

Best book ever!

I read this book for an english project. It is so good! I couldn't put it down. I was constantly reading it. I recomended it to all my friends and my teacher. It's so good!

Reality and heart

This is truely a groundbreaking story by a skillful author! I was riveted by not only the descriptions of the little Oklahoma town from a true Oklanhoman (Mr Briggs grew up there I understand), but also fascinated by the very accurate portrayals of medicine and science. Mr Briggs must certainly have a widely well read background in order to make such complicated matters so easy to understand and yet so stunningly accurate. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who loves science and drama as well as anyone who has wondered, "What if?".

Heart-wrenching, ripped from tomorrow's headlines

Best work of fiction I've read in years. Dean Briggs writes of a young boy, struggling against a rare cancer, who is humanity's only hope against a super-virus unleashed by eco-terrorists. As the world staggers against a ravaging plaque, officials desperately fight to find a vaccine, and one father is asked to make the most difficult decision of his life.As medical thrillers go, this is as good as any Robin Cook. The story also rings true concerning the initial computer virus, sent to portend and distract; the health officials' stunned response to the biological warfare, and some of the political, financial, and spiritual implications of the pending doom of the human race. Briggs got the idea from a circulated email, a modern-day parable of an age-old story. The author is a friend of mine, and he told me of his enormous struggle to write this book, particulary the last climactic chapters. As the father of four, he knows all too well the pain of Abraham's choice, and that pain shows in this book. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, although if you are the parent of a young boy as I am, be sure you have the emotional strength to finish it. I nearly didn't.
