An insightful and enjoyable book on the Book of Mormon

This books, authored by John A. Tvedtnes, is a must for anyone interested in textual criticism and the Book of Mormon. Notwithstanding the plates Mormon abridged, that Joseph Smith claimed to have translated, were the only original copy of the Book of Mormon, the Book of Mormon can indeed be subjected to textual criticism, similar to that which is performed on the Biblical texts, many which bodes poorly for the theory that the Book of Mormon is 19th century fiction. Topics Tvedtnes covers are vast, such as the exegesis Abinadi gives of Isaiah 52:7 being supported by the Dead Sea Scrolls, ancient texts supporting the Book of Mormon's declaration in Helaman 8:1920 that the pre-exilic prophet Jeremiah predicted the coming of Jesus Christ, the Old World occupation of Lehi, the similarity of the untranslated words in the text to ancient semitic words, the ancient use of reformed Egyptian, metal plates and stone bokses to preserve records, New Testament parallels to 1 Nephi 8, and many, many more intriguing topics that would prove of interest to those interested in the Book of Mormon volume.
