The Mommy and Daddy Guide to Kindergarten is wonderful. I love Susan Bernard's essays, ranging from age-appropriate behavior, to choosing a school, classrooms, computers, first-day jitters, testing, report cards (and the like) are entertaing year heartfel. The list of subject matter experts is impressive, including some of the best child development specialists, educators, teachers, educational psychologists in the country. And the quotes from parents are funny yet practical. Definitely a must-have book. I've already bought it for friends whose children are starting kindergarten next year.

I have a friend who got this book and we were reading it, as her daughter is about to start school. It is an amazing book about EVERYTHING you need to know about kindergarten, etc. My friend was very pleased with it and so was I. I wish I had this book when my child was going to school!!
Great Book!

Kindergarten: HELP!!

I remember when my eldest, (my son) was about to embark on the adventure called Kindergarten. Where should he go? How would he react. How would I fit in? How did he get so old! All these questions and more went speeding through my head. I started visiting schools (the memory of searching for a pre-school still in my head). Each school had it's own flavor. I finally found a match between my son and the school we decided on. It was a bit easier the second time, with my daughter. However having a guide like this through the process would have helped immeasurably! This book can be that guide to you. Susan Bernard writes with a style and wit, not to mention knowledge that will make the process easier. It's a pleasure to read Susan Bernard's books. I had read Ms. Bernard's Mommy Guide, so I knew that she would provide not just concrete information, but also quotes from experts as well as her own reflections. I have not been disappointed. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a pre-schooler, kindergartener, or educator in early childhood education. This book puts a human face on the kindergarten year.

I love this book, because it really illustrates well the trials and tribulations, as well as the fun parts about Kindergarten. I remember going to Kindergarten for the first time, and I thought that I was so cool and grown up. I also remember that my friends acted kind of weird, like an earthquake was going on, and the tectonic plates inside of them were moving. It was a joy to read this book by Susan Bernard, as it is a joy with all of her books. I am so glad that I have had the chance to witness her superb style and wit that she puts into every wonderful book.
