Book lives up to it's title "love slave"!

This is extremely sensual and entertaining with a "mystery" to be solved. It involves a "grief stricken" Sharni who tragically lost her husband and daughter 5 years previously. Her sister sends her on a trip to Sydney for a little R & R. After a day of shopping she stops for lunch and absolutely is shocked when she sees a handsome man who looks exactly like her dead husband. Adrian Palmer is a successful millionaire architect, has a passion for his work and brunette's and on one particular day he meets Sharni. He's been known by past lovers as a workaholic and womanizer but this woman is something special. Adrian absolutely sweeps Sharni literally off of her feet! To say anymore about this book would ruin the storyline but I promise you'll not be able to put it down. It will have your heart aching and racing at the same time.

Very enjoyable!

I agree with the other reviewers about this one. This is certainly one of the better Harlequins out there. I have always loved Ms. Lee's work and this is no exception. (I must confess that my first romance novel was actually another of Ms. Lee's Harlequin adventures - Blackmailed Into the Italian's Bed, which strangely enough was mentioned in this one!) Sharni wasn't your typically naive innocent, and Adrian wasn't your over-the-top macho man. You really felt for the characters and wanted to see both of them happy. Plus Ms. Lee really knows how to add in some twists and turns. And yes, it was such a good read that I read it in one sitting. Highly recommended.

An Unexpected Surprise !

First let me say I read this book in a few hours I could not put it down and then just this morning I recommended it to a woman that I met at the bookstore. I have to say I agree with the first reviewer about the title of this book they could have done better its totally misleading and the only reason I initially brought it is because I tend to purchase all 8 books in the Harlequin Presents series and hope for the best that my money hasn't went completely down the toilet; although I have to disagree with the comment about the cover art for harlequin this is an improvement over the recycling over covers that they have been doing recently in the past year or so, I was starting to think that the art department over there had gone through budget cuts, but I digress the book itself was great I enjoyed that Sharni was the kind of character that a reader could relate to, she was older than the typical harlequin heroine (30 years old) and had some experience in male/female relationships. She wasn't your typical "Harlequin weeping of the vine-virgin". And Adrian the hero complemented her strong-brook no nonsense yet still possessing that soft romantic feminine characteristics that I think some harlequin authors struggle to find a mix of either they go totally overboard with the naïve-innocent heroine or the "I am woman her me roar" characters. Adrian was gorgeous and of course and had alpha-male written all over him but it wasn't to the degree that you hated him or just thought he was over hearing with it, and even when he wanted to be all rich-man he-manish Sharni had the kind of personality that could put the breaks on it without hurting his male pride. The interaction between Sharni and Adrian is sizzling you find yourself getting sucked into the story from the first few pages, although the back synopsis of the book throws you off and you keep trying to figure out the connection between Adrian and Sharni's dead husband and once you think you figured it out the author throws a wrench in the works, I absolutely loved it! Ms. Lee really gave good character development I never once felt she rushed or dragged the plot between these two. It was the perfect balance of believable/unbelievable happenings although in this day and age anything is possible. The book was an over all success on Miranda Lee's part good character and plot development. I recommend this as a good Sunday afternoon or rainy day read to make you feel all warm inside.

Bad title, very good book

Thank goodness for the Internet. Without it, I would have been too embarassed to buy this book. I am not sure which is worse, the title or the book cover. Do yourself a favor and disregard both. This book is excellent. It it one of the best Harlequins I have read in a very long time. Good character develoment. Effective building of the emotional connecton. I also like that the writer turn the tables and made the hero the one who longed for a sign of affection from his partner. The quality of Harlequins in the last few years has been hit and miss. Books like this one keeping me rolling the dice. I may loose a lot of the time, but every once in a while I strike it big with a book like this one which makes it all worth while.
