Uplifting, believable, achingly beautiful

This book is no DaVinci Code. I could find nothing objectionable in the story of a man who recieves a 45-year old message from his father and follows a trail, with the help of messengers along the way, to a temple wall in Jerusalem, and to salvation. I read it in a day, and was spellbound. I wish I could send a copy to everyone I know. If you liked The Five People You Meet in Heaven, you'll love this.

An excellent novel about religion and faith

A call from a Washington lawyer to John McGowan about a misterious inheritance left by his father long time ago drive John and his wife Sarah to a search through time and remembrances about his long gone father but at the same time the searching of the stones awake in the couple and their collaborators the desire and necessity of recover their lost faith because of their excepticism, fear to love or suffering and the racionalism very common in our time. This is a spiritual story which message is simple but complicated at the same time, the search of the true through faith is a long journey with peace to ourself and love to one's neighbor at the end of it.

Pack your bags!!! You'll want to visit a few places...

I read this book in two hours this morning, because it was so overpowering with its dusty archeological factoids dissolved in the fabric of world mythology and theological theory. Plus in the tradition of James Redfield, it is a thrilling exploration of the inexplicables. It was like entering into the haze of another world and finding a sense that there is something beyond the daily grind to work towards as a human. Was this classified as a mystery? It was clearly more magical and more meaningful and it saddens me to think it will be parked next to the typical Agathas and Cats series, instead of on the Holy Shelf, where it belongs. A personal note I wish to share with potential readers. Those of you who have already read this will understand what I mean, when I say that I packed my bags right away, and I plan to visit Grand Central, just to look up at the ceiling and to buy some bread. I do believe a pilgrimage to the Holy Land will be on my agenda thereafter. Such compulsions can only occur when storytelling naturally draws your attention to details in travels that readers will feel they have previously glossed over, or when something just feels familiar and yet strange. A captivating story with a SPECIAL twist

My kudos to Benig on his first novel. Keep up the good work! I picked up the book while on vacation and couldn't put it down till I finished. Benig chooses a tough story line to write about. His imagery is solid. Character development is adequate. But most of all, the book is simply a well-told story about a wonderful subject.... fiction though it is. It's a pleasure to read a mystery that's not about murder, evil, etc. Don't expect religious accuracy. Just try to enjoy.

The only book that truly rivals 'The Celestine Prophecy'.

I have searched for books which follow a spiritual journey similar in power and text as 'The Celestine Prophecy' and this is the only one that even comes close. This is a truly riveting book which is hard to put down. It is a combination of a spiritual journey and a quest for extraordinary historical artifacts. This is one of the few books that makes the reader feel they are really participating in the events of the book. The way it is written allows the reader to visualize or image the events being described throughout the book. The only regret is that it was over too soon and it leaves you hungrey for more. Hopefully Irving Benig will be publishing a new book soon.
