I picked this book up in a junk shop, imagining it to be a good fiction breeze. it was. however, having finished it days ago I am still thinking about it. In my little world down here in southwestern New Mexico, many of the "old ways" have stood - their remnants still exist in the desert (pottery shards abound on my land), and people still practice them today in sweat lodges and ceremonies. The book takes place in the area where I now live and was an imaginative and beautiful journey, a beautiful picture of what it might have been like around here when people respected the earth and followed signs in the sky to lead them home. I'm passing it around to friends, all of whom have been inspired in some way by it.
