Being a new student at Avalon High has been exciting for Ellie, to say the least--she's an honor student, a star on the track team, and, oh yeah, dating the super-hot class president, Will. Who also... This description may be from another edition of this product.

Fans of Meg Cabot are treated to a change in style by the author. Paired with artist Jinky Coronado, Ms. Cabot retells AVALON HIGH in a comic/manga style. Readers do not have to have read AVALON HIGH to follow this new version of the story. Elle Harrison has just moved to Annapolis with her history buff parents. Almost immediately weird things start to happen. Her history teacher, Mr. Morton, explains it as the return of King Arthur and the Age of Enlightenment. Apparently Elle is the Lady of the Lake and the football star, Will Wagner, is Arthur reincarnated. Elle's parents totally believe the story. Will thinks it's all a joke. And Elle, she doesn't know what to believe. The pieces all seem to fit together perfectly. Is it too much of a coincidence? What takes 300 pages to be told in the original young adult story is told in just over 100 pages via the comic version. Of course, many of the details are left out. But the drawings reveal the story beautifully. Elle has to try to convince Will that he is King Arthur before the Homecoming dance. If he doesn't accept that he is the reincarnated King, the Age of Enlightenment can not happen, and the world will be thrust into darkness. No pressure, right? And to make matters worse, Will's brother, Marco, previously thought to be locked safely in a mental institution, is now out, and no one may be safe. This is my first foray into this book style. Having read AVALON HIGH, I must admit I enjoyed THE MERLIN PROPHECY more than I expected to. I was instantly drawn to Elle and her adventures. The pictures were very vibrant, even in black and white. The details were amazing, and the story unfolded quickly and smoothly. Of course, Ms. Cabot leaves the reader wanting to learn what comes next. Not even the original story reveals how all the characters turn out. The reader will just have to wait for the continuation in AVALON HIGH CORONATION VOL. 2: HOMECOMING, due out in June 2008. Avalon High

I've always loved stories about Camelot and the round table and I found this a fun book to read. In Avalon High, by Meg Cabot, we find out what might happen if all the main characters from Camelot were reborn now to replay their rolls again, but they will have the chance to change the out come of this story, for better or worse. I also really liked the art work done by Jinky Coronado. She does a great job of creating some very beautiful images for the story in #1 and is already working on #2.

you will love it!!

I loved this book so much! I love Meg Cabot and her books have always pleased me but this one was AMAZING!!! I mean- talk about cliff hanger! You will love this book! You are going to LOVE it!!!

Avalon High: Coronation #1: The Merlin Prophecy

This wasn't too entirely horrible... I just didn't like the fact that it was so short and didn't really add much to the story. It would be way more worth it if there was more to it... Still, it was interesting and easy and quick to read, I just wouldn't recommend buying it unless you really like manga. Or really like Meg Cabot. I really like Meg Cabot, but I would suggest you spend your money on her other full novels instead of the short manga. They're good to read, though. Interesting.

Cabot hits the comic scene in this glimmering anime debut!

Ellie Harrison is having the time of her life. Sure, being the new student at Avalon High isn't the greatest thing ever, but she's finally managed to claim her spot on the throne, or, at least, in Avalon High's social hierarchy. Not only has she snagged the spot as the track team's star, but she's also an honor student, and in the throes of an amazing relationship with uber-cute class president, Will Wagner. Not only is Will amazingly popular, and a star football player, but he also happens to be the reincarnation of King Arthur. Allegedly, that is. Of course, Ellie doesn't know if she can believe that last part. After all, it is slightly far-fetched. Luckily, Will isn't feeling the title either, and can't come to terms with being the reincarnation of someone so...powerful. Unfortunately, the skepticism that both Will and Ellie are feeling is turning out to be a problem. A problem that could prevent the age of enlightenment - aka the Merlin Prophecy - from coming to light. Ellie and Will can't believe that their doubts could have such a profound effect on history. The one thing they do believe, however, is that both of their lives are in danger, and it's going to take a little mysticism, a splash of mythology, and a whole lot of bravery to save them from the threats coming their way. Meg Cabot's characters have taken on human-esque forms in every one of her novels. However, with the introduction of a piece of anime, die-hard fans have the opportunity to see these lovable characters play out their roles in comic book form, bringing not only their traits, and personalities to the forefront, but actual illustrations of each and every one of them. AVALON HIGH: CORONATION is an amazing debut in THE MERLIN PROPHECY series. Cabot's trademark voice, and teen-geared writing style, paired with Jinky Coronodo's gorgeous illustrations bring the characters from 2005's AVALON HIGH to life. Since the AVALON HIGH debut, Ellie has claimed Will has her very own boy-toy, and established her position at Avalon High. She's still spending quite a bit of time floating in the pool in her backyard, but she's also working side-by-side with her World Civ teacher, Mr. Morton, and medieval historian parents to come to terms with some historical revelations. Cabot hits the comic scene in this glimmering anime debut! Erika Sorocco Freelance Reviewer
