When a skeleton is unearthed in the Martellos' garden, others rattle ominously in their cupboards. For the bones belong to their teenage daughter Natalie, who went missing twenty-five years ago, and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I couldn't get into this. There were too many character names and not very good descriptions. It took too long to grab my attention, so I put it down.

Their first book, I'm told. I don't know why I relate to so many of their main characters. Whatever the reason, they are one of my favorite authors of the past year. Memory Game has eye raising twists and turns throughout. No one seems to be as they appear to be. One downfall...I could not keep all the names straight-- and the first few chapters helped none for me in discerning them. Could be the interuptions of RL.

Struggling architect Jane Martello is on hand during the ground breaking for her design for an extension of the Martello retreat. However human bones are found during the ceremony and the Martello?s know straightaway they are the remains of Jane?s best friend, believed murdered 25 years ago. Jane, who is separated from her husband, feels estranged from the family and emotionally torn, so she seeks therapy. While pulling her life back together, nagging doubts about her friends death come to surface. This book drew me right into it, making me feel as involved as Jane herself. I loved it. 'The Memory Game' had me in it's clutches within the first chapter. I could not put the book down. I became irrevocably involved with the main character as if she were talking to me, and me alone. Brilliant piece of mastery. If you've read this novel then you must read N. French's new novel, 'The Safe House'. It has the same intensity and flow as her previous work. Not to be missed.

The story was thrilling, twisted yet credible and always fascinating. The characters and their behaviour seemed to me as real as life and the concept behind the story (repressed memories) was interesting and instructive. The book made me also remember 'a Secret History' by D.Tartt which is of the same quality!
