thoroughly enjoyable

The Maverick is an excellent addition to The Men of the Saddle series. Cass Claxton, the bad boy of the Claxton brothers, has met his match. He's on his way home from visiting with brother Beau and sister-in-law Charity when four horsemen approach. One of the riders is Susanne McCord, who has to be one of the most infuriating women he's ever met. To his surprise they block his way. That's when Cass learns he's falsly accused of taking advantage of Susanne, when we wouldn't touch the woman with a fence post. Now he's the guest of honor at a shotgun wedding. Cass is furious, but the sherif holds the shotgun, and so he marries the lying coniving, sorry excuse of a female. As soon as the preacher, the sheriff, and the father of the bride ride away, Susanne cheerfully admits she lied, but she promises to have the wedding annulled the moment she reaches her aunt's home in St. Louis. But can a woman who lied once be trusted? The Maverick is another fun packed story of love and misadventure. Lori Copeland always leaves the reader hungery for more.

The third book in the series...

This book was just as great as the first two in the Men of the Saddle series. I just got the four book from the library on Friday and I am on the fourth one already and it's only Monday. What can I say! The Claxton brothers make you want to sell everything and move out to Kansas!! I have enjoyed these books a great deal! The characters are great as are the story lines. If you want a great series to read, Men of the Saddle is it!!

DELIGHTFUL, TOUCHING STORY WITH A FIESTY HEROINE, HUNKY HERO AND ADORABLE CHILDREN. QUITE DIFFERENT STORYLINE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Review of the 'Maverick' 3rd book in the series 'Men of the Saddle'

Lori Copeland once again writes a book that will keep your attention from beginning to end. Cass and Suzanne will keep you spellbound trying to guess what will happen next. It is a fast paced book that I thoroughly enjoyed and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Their marriage began as a trap...

It seems that every time Cass Claxton and Susanne McCord meet, tempers clash and trouble ensues. When Cass refuses to take her to an aunt's house in Saint Louis, Susanne resorts to trickery. Claiming that Cass has ruined her, her father forces Cass to marry Susanne despite his protests of innocence. Furious, Cass takes her to Saint Louis and leaves, assuming she would quickly have the marriage annulled. Unfortunately, Susanne believed that he would be taking care of that. Six year later, Cass and Susanne meet again. Susanne has taken charge of the nine children her aunt took care of in her orphanage. When her aunt dies and the house is taken away from her, Susanne finds that she needs the help of Cass. When the two discover that they are still married to each other, she agrees to sign the annulment papers in exchange for him to escort her and the children to Kansas, where her father lived. But what neither expects is that their journey might lead both to have a change of heart. I loved reading this third book in the Men of the Saddle series. The Maverick is just as good a book as the previous two, which I also highly recommend. As usually, Lori Copeland has created an excellent novel with well developed characters and the right combination or romance and humor that you are sure to enjoy reading.
