A Perfect Book.

To say this book is about golf is like saying that David James Duncan's "The Brothers K" is about baseball. Like Duncan, Fisher uses the game she loves to weave a miraculous allegory of life, love, spirituality and family. This is a tight and readable story. The eight golf masters are all protrayed in an intimately human way. Whether or not Fisher has accurately portrayed these personalities (I don't know enough about them to say), she makes them accessible to us, and, through them, teaches lessons about life as well as golf. This book blew me away. I am extremely bummed that it is out of print.

This truly is a got to read book

Fisher has outdone herself. This is a fantastic book.I urge anybody who wants to learn about the 8 golf greats to read this book.I gave it 5 huge stars. This is the best book i have ever read.

Appeals to golfers and non-golfers alike!

A great book that successfully combines interesting insights into eight golfing "legends", with practical advice on the "game of life". Anne Fisher has done a great job of writing a book that can be enjoyed by both serious golfers and non-golfers alike.

Kudos and accolades to Anne for another hole in ONE!

In the successful tradition of her first book, "The Legend of Tommy Morris", Ms. Fisher has shaped a golf story as sweet and tender as a soft 9 iron cut shot to a tucked pin position.I learned the game of golf from my father at the age of 10 and grew up with my eyes glued to the television screen, watching most of the "legends" play that Anne honors in her new book. One by one, all eight of them became my close friends and I was truly sad to reach the last page and the eighteenth hole at West Wind. "Golf is a metaphor for life". The honesty and integrity ... The struggles and triumphs that all her hero's had to endure and celebrate. Each different in there own way, yet each with a thread of gentle humanity that binds them (and us all) together. In our quest for the "perfect" game we can discover the true nature of ourselves and our individual destiny. In golf, as in the game of life, it's really the journey that's important and not the final destination. Once again ... Congratulations Anne. Here's hoping we see more of Zachary Tobias in the not to distant future. (Hint, hint!

Down to earth, usable philosophy that is fun to read.

I found in this book a principle that is too often overlooked in our society, that being, we can learn as much about character from our athletic heroes as we can about their driving technique. The former tenant is more important than the latter. When the zoning commission denied our new building the commercial status we needed, I turned to my partner and stated, "don't worry about hitting the ball into the rough. It just gives us a different look at the pin." Based on that little morsal from this book, we changed our marketing approach and have come up with a winning shot. Each "hero" has given me a principle that makes sense, is practical and down to earth and is presented in a fun and interesting way. My congratulations to Ms. Fisher for a job well done
