Witty, entertaining, and very easy to read.

I love the movie, so it only made sense to pick up the book, right? Yeah, actually. I don't see a lot of books that structure themselves like a journal or diary (aside from the obvious ones) so this was really nice to read. It was entertaining and informative, and it just felt like something I needed right at that moment.

This review is more about the condition I got the book in, vs the actual book itself.

This was my first time ordering a "very good" condition book, and.....it's not what I was expecting. The hardcover was dirty and scratched, pages bent, and the dust cover was mangled and barely hung on. I was a little irritated, and thinking a refund or return was just not worth the time and effort it would take, I tossed the book and immediate paid for a brand new one on Amazon. Other books in the same order with "very good" conditions were a a lot better and less damaged and dirty, those, I kept.

Amazing!

It came as expected. Thrifbooks is my new hobby

The condition wasn't good.

I love this book. I think it's a great story. But the condition was listed as good. I'd say what I got was acceptable. Outside looks rough. And the edge of the pages look like the book was stepped on. Idk why books are shipped in bags. The pages of this were all bent and folded over.

Read This Whole Book In Two Days

Enjoyed the read and after watching the movie, was pleased how close the two were. There are some nuances the book offers that was more enjoyable, but both are really good. Pacing is fast on the book and easy to burn through once you start. Book came without dust jacket. That was disappointing, but overall still a good purchase.

Potatoes

A bit too heavy on the science part of science fiction. I couldn't get past the first 30ish pages. Seemed like it was just potato math for the first bit..Just not my type of book I guess.

Loved it!

I like how this is written in diary/log format. Not going to give spoilers but everyone should buy this book! I could not put it down! ❤❤❤❤❤

This is a well-written, carefully plotted castaway-type book. Excellent in all respects. I started it in the morning, and finished it the same day because it was that good. Get this- you won't regret it.

Great Book!

I am a high school science teacher and I loved this book. We are currently watching the movie in class and discussing the science behind Watney's struggle to survive on Mars. If you aren't science inclined, it is still a really great story of survival and problem-solving. The main character is funny and easy to relate to. My students have asked to borrow the book after watching the movie, which is a testament to just how engrossing the story is.
