Chronicling the search for love

The Margaret-Ghost by novelist Barbara Novak is an engaging and original story about the lives of two women, one of whom happens to be the research subject of the other. 19th century Europe and 20th century Boston are twin settings in this reflective and complex novel chronicling the search for love, the travails of male-female relationships, and the question of whether certain patterns of behavior can transcend time. The Margaret-Ghost is superb reading and would make a welcome and popular addition to the community library fiction shelf.
