This is one of my all-time favorite books. Ever.

I was looking around my library for a book to read for a report I had to for english. In the way back of library, on the top shelf, there was a nameless book with a raggy cover. I opened it up, and look at the large "The Mannings" on the page. I sat down and started reading. I thought it was alright, so I checked it out, and continued reading. It then turned into an addiction. I was reading 30 or 40 pages a night, and more on weekends. Before I knew, the 640 pages of this wonderful novel was finished. It was over, the best book I have ever read. It was over. If you ever have the chance, read this book. Read it. If I could recomenend just one book to anyone, this one would be it. You will love it, I garuntee it.

An American saga

Great 70's fiction - this is the story of Mark Manning who founds his first business at the turn of the century & goes on to become a multi millionaire making tires for cars. This book is very entertaining and I was able to imagine this as a television series as I was reading it.I first read this book about 25 years ago, never forgot it and recently obtained a used copy of it to reread. I remember reading the descriptions in "The Mannings" of the rubber plantations in South America and it led me on to read "The Violent Land" by Jorge Amado set in the cacao plantations of Brazil. This book would be a bestseller if it were reprinted today

A Terrific Saga

This review is for The Mannings by Fred Mustard Stewart (not by Robert Stewart) I'm writing this review to "balance" the only other review of this book which is only 3 stars. I loved The Mannings! I read it so long ago, that I remember few details. I do remember, however my excitement about it at the time. I remember how anxious I was to get back to it when I had to stop reading. This is a wonderful saga which brings you into the several generations of the family.
