Great book for k to grade 1 readers.

I like this book.And I highly recommend this book for K- 1 grade.Perfect for Kids who can read all alone by themselves.

makes kids feel unafraid to be science geeks

This is a great, almost un American book in that kids are told that it's OK, even wonderful and wondrous to be science geeks, be curious. Love the Frizz when she says "take chances, get messy, make mistakes," and encourages her students to explore. In a society that elevates sports and violence for boys, and beauty and cattiness for girls, this series stands out for encouraging gender neutral intellectualism and academic achievement. My geeky 5 year old can't get enough, having finally found fictional characters that reflect her and encourage her. Factual substance-wise, I as a 40 year old have learned tons.

pleasantly surprised

I had a wrong view about the school bus series - I just didn't like the school bus always being in the books and shows and then Ms. Frizzle wasn't my favorite character. So, I never really watched or read one of these movies/books. We got this book at a yard sale and my 4.5 year old loves it. I like it too - I learned things I didn't know. Just don't expect to like Ms. Frizzle - she is a tool. Of the author!

Many layers of detail

This is one of the older Magic School Bus books which has layers of detail in it. You can chose how many layers to read, depending on the child's interest and on the time you have available for reading.The obvious layer is the text. There is plenty of information from just reading the text. If you want to add more, read the dialogue between the characters, written cartoon style in balloons. The most detail would come from the children's sketches and notes that are in the (very wide) margins.I like the scheme of taking the children through the system and coming out the other end. Children usually find the fantasy of changing size to be fascinating as well. To my knowledge, the book is factual and fairly well up to date. As a seamstress, I love Ms Frizzle's clothing and accessories.

Encourages love for books and knowledge

This is the second book we have from this series, and my 4-year-old son and me enjoy and learn together in a fascinating way. This type of book encourages my kid's love for books and knowledge.Ideal for those little curios kids!
