Easy to look at guide to style

Loved this book (as well as the first one: Lucky's Shopping Manual). If you are struggling with buying EVERYTHING you like - but only wearing 20% of you closet, this is a great resource to help you understand what really appeals to you, and hopefully avoid future shopping mistakes. The best part is they profile people that fit a specifc style profile and you get to see their favorite things in their closets (and wear they bought them in many cases). They also list stores that usually carry clothes that fit that profile. Of course, I am not a specific style profile, but the end of the book deals with that too. Overall a very insightful book I will turn to as I weed out my closet of clothes that fit just fine, are in maybe even in style - just not MY style!

Brilliant

This book is genius for helping the reader understand the fundamental "vibe" of an accessory or garment, and then how to put a coherent, fabulous outfit together. The guide groups clothing into ten different categories of style, which is enormously helpful for identifying your basic taste, and building good, solid wardrobe of outfits within that category. The book also suggests how to mix style categories, which is a truly advanced skill I hope to master over time. As another reviewer commented, this is a relatively sophisticated primer on style. If you want the basic or introductory course, get the superb Lucky Shopping Manual. Also: if you want a book that tells you how to hide figure flaws, this isn't it. This book is about clothes and understanding what the design of garment is trying to convey visually, and how to combine different pieces together effectively. Wish I'd read this guide twenty years ago--it would have saved me from a lot of costly mistakes buying random, unrelated separates.

not my usual kind of book but this is AMAZING

I don't usually read style-guides but this book is so good. It is clear, visually and textually and I actually stayed up last night thinking about what I already own that I can put together in new ways. It's a really nice, encouraging book that has the same supportive tone of the magazine and the same wealth of ideas. I love this book and am definitely giving it as gifts this X-mas.

the only fashion guide you will ever need.

this could be the only fashion guide you will ever need. there are many styles to choose from and they can all work for everyone. it makes achieving these looks so simple and creates an understanding of each one. i recommend not getting stuck on any one of the styles but being open to all of them. this guide simplifies each style so much that it makes you want to try each one after following this book you may just be set for life. the styles in this book are timeless and beyond the constant changes of fashion. every girl from teen and up should have this guide book.

forget the other fashion guides and buy this

I have many of the more recent fashion "how to" type books (US Secrets of Celebrity Style, The Pocket Stylist, Victoria Beckham's That Extra Half Inch, Glamour's Big Book of Do's and Don'ts, Harper's Bazaar Great Style, etc.). What makes this book different is that instead of telling you how to pick a hot designer bag (ugh) or how to dress according to your age, this book explains clothing according to overall iconic styles; ie, American Classic, Euro Chic, bohemian, etc. Each chapter has the "must have" pieces for a particular look, outfits, and people who are interviewed as being representative of that type of style. The whole look and feel of the book is so beautiful and inspiring, I could barely put it down the day after I bought it.
