Amongst the poems in this book is a collection devoted to science. One discusses the chaotic orbit of Pluto, and how this is computed numerically using a Digital Orrery. For the uninitiated, the latter is a computer that does the equivalent of a traditional orrery, in finding the orbits of planets. But the latter orrery simply does not have the accuracy for eccentric or chaotic orbits. Another poem is an ode to the Pioneer 12 spacecraft, that performed a very successful orbit and observation of Venus. Yet another poem is homage to the Very Large Telescope in a Chilean desert, that astronomers are pining for.
