A comprehensive book on the poets of the Great War
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
This book is an excellent read. The information is put together better than the usual references on World War I Poets, outlining the lives of well-known artists like Owen, Rosenburg, and Brooke, but also emphasing the truly lost such as Edmond Adam and Edward Thomas. It is a must for ascertaining the ideals and events surrounding the outbreak of the war, and the general feeling of the generations that were party to it. It looks on all sides of the war, across all cultures, and embraces the innocence of the artists that lost their lives in the war, or were forever scarred by it. Filled with excellent excerpts of little known works, from plays to prose, and a tear-jerking introduction that captures the hopelessness of the millions of men that died in the Great War.
