I start thinking should my life end then everything about me ends. All my stories, good or bad just disappears from existence. I have no grand children, nor will ever have grand children to pass on my experiences on to. My story ends with me So I begin to put things down starting from my earliest memories till now. I find that writing my story is somewhat therapeutic, sometimes depressing, sometimes funny, some times very revealing, even to me. Sometimes I think I'm a good man, other times I realize what an awful man I have been. I certainly have no writing skills at all so the reader should not expect too much. Maybe writing this will help me understand or cope with events in my life, or I suppose there is the possibility that someone may find these writings of some interest and if and when I do pass on, in a way my story good or bad and indeed I (or should I say my memory) will live on for a little longer. The things I talk about in this story are events that sit at the forefront of my memory and have impacted my life the most. When I look through my photo collection, I find pictures where I am smiling and one would assume happy but I don't remember those times. The times I remember tend to be the negative times and I have done my best to tell my story as truthfully and accurately as my memory allows. Would someone else involved in these events remember things differently? No doubt I can only tell you the story as I remember and from my perspective. Names and places have been changed to protect the innocent. I would hope the reader not hate or fear me for some of the things I write but rather maybe understand me and if they should see me in the street, stop and say hello or if my coffee shop is still open, maybe stop by have a coffee or tea and chat awhile. You will be welcome.
