subtlety in a circus

I first read this as a young girl -- and it's stayed with me all these years. White's subtle tale of a girl needing a home and the young man who teaches her the trapeze is haunting in its simplicity. The two learn to trust one another as she struggles to master the flying art...and in the end, they realize they've actually found love. It's a beautiful tale, simple, pure, and mesmerizing.
