The Lone Rider

A young black male's struggle with racism. Book starts with him living at home with his single mother who has struggled to make ends meet for years after her husband died. Donald is involved in gang life which leads him down a road that lands him in juvie while his mother ends up getting mixed up with a bad card. He learns a lot while serving time and when he gets out he seeks to start a new life. Upon passing through a town he is wrongly accused and kicked out of town by bad cops after they rob him of his money. When he runs out of gas he seeks shelter in a seemingly abandoned barn. This is where things start to look up for him, with a bump in the road here and there. He falls in love with a white girl and befriends her father. But there are still those die hard racists that seek to take away everything good he has come to know and accept.
