When Elvirey and her family move to a log cabin in the Michigan woods, something even more important than Granny's quilt pieces makes the new dwelling a home. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a short but touching story of a pioneer family moving to Michigan. The artwork adds to the charm of the story. It is for young children, but this 60 year old really liked it.

This one is "literature" as opposed to just a book. Great illustrations and a good story about the generations of a family. Would work well for a unit on quilts, immigration, or family history.
Very moving and deep.

Although its a very short story, Ellen Howard has a way of packing great meaning into each sentance. I read this book very slowly, stopping after each sentance to soak in the full meaning. As I read this moving story about an early pioneer family in The New World, I began to feel as though I was there. Very well written, very good story. And Ronald Himler's excellent illustrations do justice to the depth of Ellen's words. Good Work. I recomend it.
