Definately pick up The Luguist. It's the story of a love triangle of sorts between a str8 wmoan, a gay man, & a str8 man. The str8 man, Howard, is the protagonist & the love triangle is really a backdrop for Howard to learn who he is to himself & how he relates to the world. I am about 2/3's done but what I am enjoying the most is that Beaumont keeps me easily in tune Howard's mindset, the narrative tone is compellingly excellent & , too, the plot keeps surprising me with revelations; Beaumont keeps the story engaging but avoids being trite & formulaic, as would have occurred on the keyboard of a less skilled author. I suspect the final rating will be 4 stars but I have about a 1/3 left to go. All I can say is that right now I am absolutely positive I will be pickng up another Beaumont novel. (Never did add that by novel's end, stars had indeed jumped to 4.)
