Kim Peek

I met Kim and his father Fran at the airport in SLC a year or so ago. I am sorry to hear that Kim has passed on since. I cannot imagine how hard this must be on Fran. His life was totally dedicated to his most remarkable son, who needed a great deal of care in spite of the genius within him. My best wishes to Mr. Peek at the loss of his son.

remarkable book

I bought this book directly from Kim Peek and his father, Fran, after he wowed the crowd at a Foundation event in Madison, Wisconsin. The book beautifully chronicals Kim's talents, as well as the extraordinary relationship Kim had with his father. Doctor Darold Treffert, the savant expert who brought "Rain Man" to Wisconsin, discusses Kim and the other fascinating savants he has studied through the years. Treffert is profiled in White Coat Wisdom. I had the opportunity to meet with Kim and it was truly a remarkable experience because he actually could do all the things I had heard about. Get this: He was able to read two pages of a book simultaneously--one with one eye and one with the other! White Coat Wisdom: Extraordinary doctors talk about what they do, how they got there and why medicine is so much more than a job

Enlightening Book

This is a great book and an easy read. It was written by Kim's (the real rain man) father and discusses Kim's entire life to this point. I was lucky enough to get my book autographed and I feel very privileged. This book would be great for children as well as adults. It certainly changed my thinking of disabled persons.
