An excellent presentation of a 20th Century martyr's life.

This retelling of the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer moved me. His death was almost anticlimactic, almost to be expected of a man who lived his principles daily in the midst of the horror that Germany had become. But before he was a martyr, he was the scion of a long line of respectable German educators, a serious young man, an outstanding student, a pastor. All these are retold in an elegant and engaging style that keeps your attention and makes Dietrich come alive. His character is displayed through excerpts of his lectures and sermons and through the recollections of those that knew him well. I recommend this book highly.
