Book Overview

When Linnie Colsworth came from the East to visit relatives in Omaha, she was plunged into a wider, more hazardous world than she had ever known. Sweet love story

The entire time I was reading this book, I could picture it being made into a wonderful movie, like an endearing TV movie. The setting is late 1800's in the American West, which means there's lots of adventure and struggles for the characters to cope with. However, the biggest struggles of all come not from the weather or landscape but from human emotion and love, which are timeless tales. The main character makes a decision to follow her heart - unsure what the result will be - and even after what seems like a resolution, her decision still causes moments of nagging doubt. The characters and their emotions, and situations, are all very real and as usual for Aldrich, extremely well written. This is perhaps the most romantic of all Aldrich's books, in a very quiet and gentle way. I really lost myself in this book - the characters and western Army posts - and the romance was very sweet. I was sad when it was over, and would have loved for her to have written a sequel.

Best Book Ever!!

This is such a great book! great story about determination, patience and love. Not crude or graphic. Great for people from any generation!
