This fictional journal of 'Ramon Cordes' is, presumptively, that of Che Guevara in the jungle, on the run and at bay. Philosophy becomes poetry as Herrick's character relives the exaltation of combat for a cause, as well as failed campaigns, jealousies, and betrayals, the world-wars of 'the movement' on all continents, warped or perfected by local or 'alien' leaders who are the last to die. -- Publishers Weekly
