Excellent Teaching Tool

I am a high school history teacher. This book is an excellent teaching tool for freshmen or sophomore history classes (some of the older kids thought that the reading level was too easy). The majority of my students liked the book as it brought a wealth of additional color and background to the classroom lecture notes. The fact that the protagonist is 16 and there is a "love story" subplot makes it even better. As far as the swearing, it is not at all excessive and actually adds to the book as it shows the culture shock that 16 year old Jack underwent when he joined the Army Air Force. Also...from a historical standpoint..people did swear back then! Trust me...it is nothing worse than I as a teacher (quite unfortunately) hear in the hallways on a daily basis.

An accurate account of World War 2 aerial combat

When I first read this book, I was in 6th grade. Now I am in 11th and I still read this book when I can. It was wonderfuly written and execllent images Harry Mazer used. I say that it was a great book and everyone should read it.Getting in the Air Force at 15 and making it at the end, never read something like it.

My name is Ramiro Mariscal a student of Narbonne High school and a few weeks ago I read your book called The Last Mission which was very exited and interesting. I identified my self with the Kind of books about war, specially the last mission because It relates to the B-17 airplanes which were the ones who dropped bombs during the World War II. This story is dramatic also because once the group had been complete their twenty four missions they had to bomb Berlin in their last mission, unfortunately the fly crashed and that's the part I like the most in this story. I think this is a reflective book also because it tell us about a capture soldier, and I think that could be an example of a risk by going to enlist in the army. Let me tell you that I was asignated to represent a book to one of my classes, and i choose yours because I like it since I read the first pages. I think this is a good and I am going to read it once more because I want to experiment the feeling of this story by reading it. At last I just want to say that I recommend this book to people who likes to read books about war and friendship.

A great read; now and then.

I first read this book as a teen in the early 1980s. The whole story is gripping. One really can't imagine what will happen next. The author makes you feel as though you are watching instead of just reading. My favorite part is the last page. It leaves a lump in my throat every time.It is a good book for a school report.

The best book I hve ever read

Hi I was in the six grade when I first read this book. Now I'm in eight grade and just finshed reading it for the 16th time. I know you will enjoy thisbook very much. It's about how this kid wanted to get into the army. In his different mission raiding europe of bombs he relizes that wars is not fun and games, but people eally do die and it's sad. This gose through a kids life about how he gat in the army and wanted back out.
