Johnny Nadeau grew up in a small town in Florida, polluted by a boxing company owned by trillion-dollar investment firm Sinema and Santos. John gets a scholarship to attend a private Christian college, Gabriel College, where Sharon Sinema is the provost and the soon-to-be wife of Al Santos. Grant Sinema disapproves of the marriage, sees his partner's affair as a weakness, and conspires to consolidate his company and the nation. The only thing keeping Grant and Al working together is stopping Grant Sinema's childhood friend from becoming president of the US.

David Morgan I is a Christian-far-right Governor of Massachusetts who dreams of creating a religious nation. His son, David Morgan II, is attending Gabriel College at the same time as Johnny, who has fallen in love with Katie Sweeney. At a frat party, David II decides to make Katie his wife. Johnny leaves her, and Katie takes matters into her own hands, making a deal with Al Santos to destroy her husband and get Johnny back.

On the 18th birthday of David Morgan the III, everything changed when an insurrection orchestrated by Sinema and Santos overthrew the US government and installed David Morgan I as president. The Morgans and Grant worked together to get rid of Al, who had blackmailed the Christian fascist movement into submission for decades. David Morgan III must decide whether to continue in his grandfather's footsteps or find his path.

Blending history and dystopian themes render a country on the brink of dictatorship, ruled by deep state money, with endless surprises. Spanding from the bayous of South Florida to Boston, Tennessee to California, the grand old party's new insurrection didn't count on a dying man's revenge.
