Please don't be misinformed by those with an ax to grind.

(Transparency - I have been in the industry for over a decade (my partners for much longer)and our agency has been applying these principles before Douglas Andrew wrote his books. We are incredibly grateful to him for saving us the time it took him to write the books and share these principles. They are absolutely sound!) When I read some of the reviews of this book and the others in the Missed Fortune series it became abundantly clear that the writers either did not read the books, read them with malice, or are purposely distorting what the author actually said. I can understand how a lay person may become confused at some points but many of these negative reviewers claim to know what they are talking about and then write a bunch of misinformation. Please read the(se) book(s) for yourself. Our agency does not charge for doing a personal strategy for those who have read the books and want to take a look at applying these principles to their own situation and my guess is that the ones you would be given if you call Douglas Andrew's office and ask for a referral will not either. Please read the books first because in most cases you will be exposed to a whole new way of thinking. If you are a babyboomer you ought to ask yourself the question, "Why are so many of my peers concerned about having enough money for retirement when all the "traditional" methods have been available to them for years?" Perhaps it is because the plans designed for them by "traditional" financial advisors did not prepare them properly or the plans were like the perfect diet that the "average" person could not possibly sustain. Douglas Andrew's plans are designed for the average person who understands that they need to do something but don't have the time or inclination to become obsessed by it. His strategies are proven over his thirty plus years in the industry plus his personal experience. His writing is clear and concise and if anything a bit repetitive just to make sure that everyone reading it will grasp the concepts. If Last Chance Millionaire seems too simple for you, please read Missed Fortune 101 or if you are in the industry, I highly recommend the original, Missed Fortune. I can not possibly take on all the falacies listed in some of these critiques but to say that Douglas R. Andrew books were written just to sell insurance is like saying NASCAR drivers only drive to sell the products that sponsor their cars. The products that Douglas Andrew suggests are the tools that will help you accomplish your goal of a comfortable retirement. Please read the book for yourself, apply the principles, and when you are done do a friend a favor and pass it on to them.

Clear & price extended financial planning concepts!

This book is a must read for any financial planner and anyone age 40-70 who is looking to plan for retirement

Now, and not later, is the time to plan your future retirement

Douglas Andrew, author of "The Last Chance Millionaire," is the perfect person to write a book such as this one. He is the owner and president of Paramount Financial Services and one of America's leading financial experts. What he offers in this excellent work is an alternative to traditional retirement planning, one that may be counterintuitive to many readers (and many financial advisers), but one which he explains and justifies using facts, figures, and many explanatory illustrations. For those of the so-called "baby-boomer" generation, he has both good news and bad news. The bad news is that soon-to-be and future retirees will discover that the Social Security funds they had counted on to provide income through their "golden years" will not be adequate to sustain the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed. The good news is that financial alternatives exist which can overcome or displace the bad news, but only if one starts implementing them now, that is, before the day of reckoning is upon one. This is one book I wished I had had in my hands twenty or even ten years ago. I was not a great planner when it came to my future retirement; I just never thought I really would retire and, furthermore, if I did, Social Security would provide adequate income for my needs and wants. Way back when, we were never informed as to the precarious nature of the Social Security system or private pensions. After all, the government took money out of our paychecks every month and "promised" us it would take care of us in our old age. Private companies provided pensions. Well, so much for government promises. Well, so much for companies that went bankrupt. The situation will become critical shortly and the baby-boomers (and, of course, those who are thirty years or more away from retirement) are going to suffer some mighty financial sticker-shock if they don't plan now for their future retirement. It is too late for me to actually benefit personally from the valuable information that the author has to offer. I came into the world in the latter years of the Great Depression, under the influence of a society that had experienced the worst. By the time it was realized that retirement was not going to be what everyone at that time thought it was going to be, it was too late for many of my generation to make the financial plans suggested in this book. I have my Social Security and other income, all my personal possessions paid for and no outstanding debts of consequence, a nice house to live in -- all in all, a comfortable, if not wealthy lifestyle. But this is now. The future is another thing. It is time for the baby-boomer generation and the one coming after it to start planning now before retirement is imminent. There is one thing that Andrew emphasizes that came as a revelation to me. I was raised with the idea that one ought to pay off one's home mortgage as rapidly as possible. That way you weren't paying any more interest to the bank or lending com

Review of the Last Chance

Excellent!!! In keeping with the quality of his previous works - Missed Fortune and Missed Fortune 101.

You don't know it, but you have actual wealth in your hands!

Of the 95% of baby boomers who fear retirement, because they fear they will outlive their funds, not one knows that they have a source of wealth already in their possession. Yet, the facts and figures, not fanciful theories, are told plainly in Doug Andrew's book. It IS too late, if you don't act on the plans of action detailed in this wise man's book. However, if you read and decide to set aside "common wisdom" and take action, you truly do have time to turn financial penury into relaxed, smiling, cheerful prosperity. I'm one of those baby boomers and I both understood the amazing, yet simple ideas Andrew shares, and set my plan in action. I cannot tell you what to do, and Doug A. only lays it out for you, so all I can recommend is that you acquire this book, set it on top of all the financial advice materials you've collected, and start reading Last Chance immediately. I read the first half of the book in one day. Then, get ahold of a financial professional, not for a skeptical "second opinion", but to help you lay out your own plan of action. You and I are post-war age-mates. I want to see you enjoying the good retirement you worked so hard for. You'll see what I mean when you complete the book. So, why are you sitting there? Get the book. If anyone challenges why you are reading it, just tell them you don't want to retire on Social Security.
