A very intricate book regarding the politics of Europe in the 1600's and the life of a lacemaker, Gilonne, including her forbidden marriage to a Protestant and her secret longing for a peasant turned Count, who for years is presumed dead. This book was very well written and was obviously well researched in the art of lacemaking and the present day situations of the characters.
