Amazing story of a gemstone

This book traces the history of one of the world's most famous diamonds - the Koh-i-noor (mountain of light). This book is very well written and keeps the reader engrossed from start to finish. You will see how the elusive diamond changes hands across India, Persia and Afghanistan. From the Mughals to the British, the diamond and its owners have a very fascinating (and bloody) history. The origins of the Kohinoor are shrouded in mystery and the author circumvents this problem by assuming it is the same as 'Babur's diamond'. However from the time of Nadir Shah (who gave the stone it's beautiful name), historical accounts regarding the diamond are well documented. If you like history and books that delve into the past, then this book will not disappoint you.
