More than I expected...

At first, you think that you are going to be reading about a possible change from Democracy in America to Aristocracy, then you suddenly find yourself deep in the personal lives of the "King" of America and his bride. It was a great combination of war time bravado and the love of a man for a woman. I really found myself drawn into the relationship of a ruler and his "stand up to him" wife.

A satisfying read.

This book is a good beach book, or a comfortable curl up kinda book. The author starts writing a sort of military/alternative history action thriller, and does a nice, almost seamless segue into an almost-romance novel. His military action scenes, while not Tom Clancy, are satisfying enough, and the love and affection between the lead characters are believeable. If I had to critique, I'd have to say that the last quarter of the book is way too summarized; I would have liked to see a lot more "story".
