Great Mystery Chick Lit

This Chick lit book takes place in Manhattant and the investment banking world. Rachel Benjamin a hard working career woman is the main character and is working under Glenn Gallagher her obnoxious boss. However, the book takes a turn when her boss is murdered and Rachel is targeted as the prime suspect. On the lamb from the police she investigates the scandal of the buy out of Thunderbolt Industries and discovers a horrible scandal involving both a Senator and a major corporation. The third Rachel Benjamin Mystery (see THE JINX and THE PACT) is a wonderful sleuth thriller. Rachel is a complex main character as she goes from rising partner to a woman on the lam trying to prove her innocence and not get killed while doing so.

Arguably the best of the bunch!

A delightful read--Jennifer Sturman has an amazing knack of combining humor with suspense. The plot is clever and tight but most entertaining is her witty dialogue and anecdotal depiction of life in the fast-tracked investment banking world (amusing for those outside of this world, that is). Well done--I am looking forward to book number 4!

the key

This book was going to be my last try with this series, so I am happy to say that I will keep reading. It was much more fast paced than the first two, and all of the business jargon is gone. I'm a little tired of the constant references to Diet Coke being a wonder drink, but, overall, I recommend this book.

wonderful amateur sleuth thriller

In Manhattan, Rachel Benjamin feels her chances of making partner at Winslow Brown Investment Bank remains excellent in spite of her obnoxious demanding new boss from hell Glenn Gallagher. Under his difficult direction, she, Jake Channing and Mark Anders are working on a buy-out of Thunderbolt Industries that looks suspicious to her. She believes it is a bad deal. She also receives emails at home from the anonymous Man of the People insisting that Gallagher has done this questionable transaction before. When Gallagher dies from chewing on a poisoned pencil, suspicion falls on Rachel because she had described the modus operendi to her work-mates not long before the murder. Someone looking just like Rachel pushes office assistant Dahlia towards a train just after mentioning to Rachel she needed to tell her something important. With the help of her friends and her live in boyfriend Peter Forrest, Rachel investigates while hiding from the law and from clever killers. The third Rachel Benjamin Mystery (see THE JINX and THE PACT) is a wonderful amateur sleuth thriller in which the female buddies and Peter play the key roles in helping the heroine extract herself from being the prime suspect. Rachel is wonderful as she goes from sure shot partner to loathing her odious new supervisor to woman on the lam trying to prove her innocence and not get killed while doing so. Readers will appreciate this pleasing tale that also warns fans not to chew on their pencils. Harriet Klausner

Great book!

I have the previous two books by Jennifer Sturman. The Pact and The Jinx. And I have to say out of all three, I liked this one the best. The plot was fast paced and enjoyable to follow. There wasn't a lot of business jargon in this one as there was in The Jinx, which I'm glad for. So it was easier for people who don't have a business degree to follow. Also, Rachel's freinds are more in the background than they have been in the previous two books. I highly recommend this book to anyone and I can't wait for the forth Rachel Benjamin book by Jennifer Sturman to come out next year.
