Mesmerizing

I bought and read this book about eight years ago. I still have it and have read it many times. The mind is a wonderful tool and this book was one of the first pieces I ever read that had anything to do with the ways of the it, and the ignoring of the norms associated with the use of the mind. Spirituality and mind and body energies are essential to many people today. I fell in love with the personality of the characters... I have since reading this book, made a promise to myself to name my first daughter after Juniper. It is a great book for any ages.

A wonderful read

I found this book a great read, and it still is one of my favourite books. Perfect for people 12+, and especially those who like reading about telepathy, witch trials, and the medievel times of England.I would recommend The Juniper Game to anyone. A book hard to put down, devestating to finish.

Wow!!!!

I was so shocked to discover that this book is out of print. It is one of the best books I've ever read, right up there with Donna Jo Napoli's and Philip Pullman's stuff. The plot looks really weird, but once you're into it, you won't be able to put it down, read it, read it, read it!! See if it's in the library--that's probably easier than an out-of-print order. A Time Of Darkness (by the same author) is also EXCELLENT. Other out of print books I highly recommend are The Silver Crown and A Pack Of Lies: 12 stories in one.

A mysteriously magical book.

This book, The Juniper Game is a great book for anyone who is into mysterious magic and medieval insides. It is an interesting book that at first, will seem confusing and strange, but you will soon fit the "pieces of the puzzle" together. As you read The Juniper Game, you will understand the concept, and you will feel like you are right there with the characters with the extreme details. The story starts with a 'confusing' introduction, and then starts with the present time, in the book. Juniper, a beautiful "out of the ordinary" girl is into medieval history, and objects that include castles, knights, and peasants. She is also into experiments to prove herself points. One of the experiments that she wants to do is a telepathic image exchange with her mother, but her mother is far to busy to do anything with her like that now. So, Juniper is silently searching for an artistic person to do the experiment with. At school, she meets the nerd-like Dylan and finds out that he is quite the artist! She is overjoyed beyond repair. So they start the experiment. At first, it seems like it wont work, but then this look up for it. Juniper is traveling back in time and through telepathic image exchanges, she is having Dylan draw pictures showing evidence of where she's been so that she can keep them for her medieval collection, but as she witnesses a first hand account of a past medieval witch happening, through different day sessions, she sees to much. What she sees happening to the people is scary, and the telepathic images are screwing-up Dylan's thought. After they have perfected the image exchange, Dylan can "feel" everything happening with Juniper, including things that are going wrong. Then, as they progress even more, things at Dylan's home don't go very well, and Juniper's life goes down a bit after a bad car accident with her boyfriend. (She isn't hurt, but the accident helps her to pursue the experiment even more, which is bad.) This is definitely a must have for people who enjoy mysteriously magical, adventurous, and exciting books. To find out what happens to Juniper, Dylan, and everyone around them, read The Juniper Game. It's a great book! :)

The Redemption of Meaning.

This is possibly the best book I've ever read. It starts out with basic stereotypical people : a strong minded, popular girl, and a quiet, artistic boy who is a nobody. But then Sherryl goes on, and shows people are deeper than what they look like and each has his own strengths. The plot is flowing and deep. Each scene is simply discribed, yet tantilizes the imagination.
