The Joy of Weaving is a fantastic resource. If, like me, you are trying to learn through videos and books, then this book is a must! Written by Osma Gallinger Tod, herself a weaving instructor, in 1964. This book, with its many illustrations and how-to information, is like having your own personal tutor. She has thought of every question a newbie might have and patiently explains it all, from the history of thread to detailed and labeled illustrations of different looms and how to set them up/make/use them to pattern reading to projects. It feels like you're learning from a friend. I can not praise this book enough.
