Book Overview

The Joy of Being a Eucharistic Minister

The Joy of Being a Eucharistic Minister by Mitch Finley is a concise, encouraging guide offering a spirituality tailored specifically for Catholic lay Eucharistic Ministers (also called Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion).

The book provides practical tips, insights, and reflections to deepen the spiritual dimension of this ministry. At its core is the call to love God and neighbor more fully through service at Mass and beyond--distributing Communion, assisting with the Eucharist, and carrying Christ to the homebound or sick. Drawing from Scripture, liturgy, and Church tradition, Finley emphasizes that being an Eucharistic Minister is not just a functional role but a joyful vocation rooted in baptismal priesthood, fostering personal holiness, reverence for the Real Presence, and active participation in the Church's mission. It's biblical and liturgical in focus, helping ministers grow in awareness of the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life (per Vatican II). Ideal for training, ongoing formation, or personal reflection, it's part of Resurrection Press's "Joy of Being..." series for various lay ministries.

The Joy of Being a Eucharistic Minister

Mitch Finley writs for the lay person. This is not a technical book on the Eucharist, it is a practical guide for everyone who becomes an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. Mitch does a wonderful job placing the Minister into his or her role as they present Christ in the form of His Body and Blood to His people. This book should be a part of the training offered to the Ministers of Communion.
