This book is a jewel, not to be missed.

I was a contributing writer to "The Journal Project." However, my part was so small, I will risk hints of self-serving interests to rave about the women who created this work. It is a jewel. It is (and is not) about academic women and the classroom process in "Women's Studies." Those excluded from higher education, share an identity and voice here as well. Dispel any unflattering charges about the content of "Women's Studies" courses. the world. "The Journal Project" is a collaboration of a particular small women's community, with its diverse races, ethnicities, languages and/or sexual orientations. Sometimes funny, sad, stirring anger and pain, this work is the unfurling of a hundred -- no, a thousand -- petals of a flower only to reveal the raw, complex beauty of living fully in one's own life. With gaining the knowledge of our 'one-ness' with each other, we unwrap ourselves further, setting off shocks of insight, understanding, and exclamations of "Yes! I've felt that. I thought the exact same thing." What could be more invigorating, life-affirming -- more essential in the lives of today's women?
