A lovely, lovely book

This book was among my favorites as a child. Each endearing story and poem in this collection is so thoughtfully written, and the illustrations are beautiful and incredibly charming. Tenderness, kindness, caring, and love are the themes found within stories that effortlessly speak to a child's way of viewing the world. I recall this book being read to me perhaps more than any other. My family treasured this well worn book with its tattered cover, and for 30 years it never left its spot on the family room book shelf to be stored with so many of the forgettable children's books. I recently was able to convince my mother to pass the book along to me so that I could share it with my 3 1/2 year old son. Already, we have read it countless times, and he asks for some of the stories to be read again and again. This is a truly beautiful and timeless book that deserves to be in print. If you have a 3 to 6 year old, I would highly recommend getting a used copy.
