Great book to read with Children

This book is great to read with little children. I remember my Mamaw reading it to me and my cousin every time we came to her house (even when it wasn't around halloween!) because we loved the book so much. She read this to us for years growing up and it became a tradition that we all did together. My mamaw passed away a few years ago, and I am so glad to have this memory of her reading this book to us. It means so much to me and my cousin as well! This is a great book to share with the children in your life!

This trick is a treat!

This is a cute picture book that is nice to read around Halloween. Two young girls in early America are left home alone at Halloween when their parents have to make a trip into town and will not be back until the next day. At first, being alone does not bother them because they have plenty to do while taking care of the house and carving jack-o'lanterns. The sisters start to get scared when they notice that a couple of unfamiliar Indians have been spying on their house. Indians have come to trade with the family before, but this time, the elder sister believes that the Indians might be planning to rob the house. Can the girls come up with a plan to protect themselves and their home until their parents return? The solution the girls come up with is clever and slightly humorous. Young children will appreciate the girls' ingenuity and courage as they face a frightening situation without having adults to rely on. The book would be suitable to read to preschoolers and for beginning readers to read by themselves.
