When is this guy writing another?

I was surprised when I saw the very negative words in the first on-line review of this book, because I just finished it and was looking to see if, in the last two years, the author had written another. (Perhaps a sleazy developer hacked off at being unmasked by Herschlag's work? ) In the tradition of A Civil Action and Erin Brockovich, main character Jon Kessler sets forth to save NYC from a multi-layered conspiracy resulting in a very real environmental threat. The plot was well developed and gives a tremendous, but not incomprehensible, look at the inner machinations of a major metro sewer system. As an urban planner, I felt it also provides a statement on contemporary urban problems, without appearing "preachy" or bleeding-heart - though there is a bad pun about bleeding-heart liberals near the end! Enjoy it, it's a compelling read...I hope more is coming.

Fast-paced, fact-filled thriller

What a unique novel -- who knew the New York sewer system could be so fascinating! Herschlag takes you on an action-packed ride that doesn't let up until the final page. The information flowing through the pages of this book, from engineering to architecture to the intricacies of sewer flows, is a great complement to the excitement of the chase. Herschlag creates characters who are realistic, interesting, and immediately likeable as well as a riveting mystery. I can't wait for his next book!
