This is a "must read story" for anyone who is captivated by real life adventure in the great outdoors. The author is challenged by life threatening situations brought forth by nature, man and beast while confronting some of the most dangerous game on earth. He relates and reflects upon past experiences as this daily journal unfolds. His knowledge on man and his place in nature is sure to broaden your understanding of "man as a hunter". Strange twists of fate inevitably challenge the author and invariably will challenge you to think deeper about your own individual lives--seeking adventure, challenges, victories and pleasure. To search for your inner strength- "The inner Force".
This book offers a lot of Frank's philosophy about the pastime of hunting. It helped me clarify the reasons why I have been a hunter for 50 years. His heartfelt thoughts, written in plain-spoken words, are intertwined with his exciting narrations of hunting in Africa and North America. There is a good measure of humor, some of it the kind you only hear around the campfire when hunting with other men, but all in good taste, in my opinion. Only a couple "fish stories" that would make you wonder if Frank might have enhanced the telling a little, and many completely believeable dramatic adventures. Some charming touches like not correcting some mis-spellings that were probably part of his journal writing while in camp.

I am not a hunter; but this book was really interesting to read. It was an exciting story of an African hunt and all the amazing things that go on when you put your life into the hands of the wild. Kept me drawn into the book and couldn't wait to find out what adventure came next!
