Jackie Seewald's paranormal suspense thriller

Jacqueline Seewald has written a quick-paced page turner in The Inferno Collection. The heroine Kim, an amateur sleuth, possesses an psychic awareness that causes her to suspect that her friend's "suicide" is no such thing, and she gets herself into a whole lot of trouble trying to prove it. Accidents that are no such thing begin to happen to Kim, and a psychic police detective tries to save her from herself. I can recommend this book to all who enjoy suspense with a touch of the paranormal. It's easy to read, and the characters are likable. Well done, Ms. Seewald!

Excellent Book

I just loved this book. I think it could easily be turned into a movie. The writer possesses an excellent knowledge of her mother tongue and for someone like me whose first languge isn't English this is a great educational book as well. The reading is easy. You hold your breath till the finish. And boy, what a finish!!!

Deliciously creepy mystery!

When I worked for the Pasadena Public Library in the 1960s (God, I'm old), believe it or not, we had books in the back room that weren't supposed to be circulated. The books included DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN, and several others. I had no idea these collections of books had a name. The INFERNO COLLECTION not only opened my eyes, but entertained me a *whole* lot! This the perfect book if you want a chills and creeps along with your mystery. And Halloween is right around the corner, by gum! Read this book. You won't be disappointed.

Expect the unexpected

You would hardly expect a fast paced thriller to be set in a university library, nor that the protagonist would be an emotiionally repressed librarian. But somehow Jacqueline Seewald, who seems very familiar with this setting and its caste of characters, has managed to write a veritable page turner. She provides just the right amount of foreshadowing to maintain the reader's interest, while never giving away too much. In classic who-done-it style, Ms. Seewald places almost every character in a suspicious light, until the true villian of the piece is finally revealed. "The Inferno Collection" is a very enjoyable book and I highly recommend it.

fun paranormal amateur sleuth

English doctoral student Lorette Campbell asks her friend, former student turned reference librarian Kim Reynolds if she knows anything about the inferno collection. Kim says no although she does not need to depend on her psychic skill her grandma calls the "awareness" to know her friend is upset. However, the nervous Lorette insists it exists and her limited knowledge has placed her in harm's way; she mentions a recent accident that she believes was no accident. Not long after their meeting, Lorette dies with the police claiming it was a suicide. Kim believes otherwise and begins inquiries starting with seeking out whether the inferno collection exists. Her efforts bring her to the attention of Professor Don Bernard who she was attracted to when she was a student and psychic police detective Mike Gardner who fears the librarian is in over her head and in trouble. As she investigates, attempts on her life made to look like accidents happen. This paranormal amateur sleuth with some police procedural elements is an enjoyable whodunit starring a likable librarian who goes from no men in her life to two men in her life. Kim is a delightful lead character as she cannot help but investigate the death of her friend starting with her inquiry into whether the INFERNO COLLECTION even exists. Her jaunt into danger with two males trying to keep her safe will entertain readers as her goal is to insure Lorette's restless spirit finds peace. Harriet Klausner
